hi, my dad is buying a flat in spain. He is not well and doesnt seem to have long left. His is currently living with his sister and husband, they rent a place. He want to buy a flat outright and split the ownership four ways: 22.5% me 22.5% my brother, 5% for him, 5% for his sister and 45% for my cousin.
I have a lot of debt here in the uk and Im concerned that if I was on the deeds and this went wrong for me that my slice of the property in spain would be looked at. I have at the moment said no to him regarding this, because it all seems a little too complicated. Four people on the deeds I mean. Im not interested in owning any of it, and the only reason my dad is doing it is to avoid inheritance tax etc. He is also buying it. i believe, to help my auntie and uncle out as they would be living their also. They are also caring for him. I need some advice, what would you do? Its not a property I could ever live in, or sell because of the numbers involved. Am I mad passing it up? Help!!!

I would like to enter into a civil partnership with my partner of 6 years. We jointly own property in spain and I have a evil mother-in-law! I want to strengthen the legal bond between us as make her butt out of our affairs. So would the same legal rights be extended from the UK to cover Spanish Law?

I believe, since Spain recognises same sex partnerships, the same legal rights would be extended. I think the only time it would not is if that country did not recognise civil partnerships.

I have not done business with MRI to date, and have not located any negative info on them either. I would assume that being such a large company, they have large costs associated with that and must charge accordingly. Run your numbers over and over to make sure they fit within your parameters and guidelines.

If you are not resident in the UK, then just in Spain

If you are resident in the UK, then in Spain but it is also declarable here too as part of your worldwide income.

If you are resident in the UK, then you must ask your HMRC office for a Self Assessment tax return with the foreign income page. You will need to declare the Spanish rental income, along with any tax you have paid in Spain. The tax paid abroad will be given as a credit against your bill. If you have nothing to pay, the Spanish tax will not be refunded by the UK.

Why not take advice from an abogado (lawyer). I doubt it will cost much for advice. The abogado may help you to resolve this situation with satisfaction.
The abogado will know where you stand within the law.

You should find a time share broker and sell it through them.
